In the event of fire, PVC pipes and cables can quickly be destroyed and due to their properties fire can spread rapidly. By using an intumescent ring, this danger can be avoided and PVC pipes can be insulated against fire and smoke. Intumescent rings act in the same way as intumescent hoses, and should be placed on the inside of the wall or floor. It is therefore cheaper than using hoses. Intumescent rings are supplied wrapped in plastic material with an adhesive strip to make application easier. The seal is resistant to fire for up to 4 hours.
