The Perlifoc HP Mortar is a gypsum-based product, intended for passive fire protection in structural elements. It has a low density due to the use of new light loads, making it a high performance mortar. It also has thermal insulation properties.

In relation to the structural elements, Perlifoc HP can be used to protect steel structures (columns, beams and hollow sections), concrete structures (beams, columns, slabs and walls) and mixed concrete floors and firewall strips.

This mortar provides a fire resistance of up to 240 minutes (R 240) depending on the structural element to be protected.

Perlifoc HP mortar has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), demonstrating commitment to the environment. This certification provides points in the different green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, among others)

Application

Perlifoc HP is applied wet by means of a mixer and compressor type spraying machine. In addition, it can be applied manually in small areas or to repair bumps. To be able to apply the product we must prepare the surface and put mesh in place when sufficient adhesion is not guaranteed.

To prepare the surface we must check that the surface is dry and clean of grease, dust and dirt; with absorbent surfaces it is recommended to spray it with water beforehand. The use of mesh is recommended if there is no sufficient adhesion and, furthermore, on beams with a width greater than 500 mm, on columns where the application only applies to one front, on square or rectangular shaped metal columns and on columns that are subject to high levels of deformation. Before applying Perlifoc HP, the product must be mixed with water, it must be sprayed perpendicularly onto the surface until the necessary thickness is achieved.

The application temperature must be between 3 and 43 °C; and the substrate temperature during application must be at least 3 °C above the dew point.

In closed and poorly ventilated areas (basements, confined spaces…), for correct drying of the mortar, it is recommended that the RH should not exceed 60% and that there should be adequate ventilation, with at least 4 complete air exchanges per hour until the material is dry (or for at least 2 weeks after completion of the application).

The Perlifoc HP mortar has a rough finish (it can be smoothed if necessary) and is antique white (it can be painted without affecting fire resistance).
