The Perlifoc LD mortar is a low-density, gypsum-based product intended for passive fire protection in structural elements and enclosures. It also has thermal and sound insulation properties. Its high concentration of light aggregates reduces the density of the product, which means less load on the support to be protected.
In relation to the structural elements, Perlifoc LD can be used to protect steel structures (under UL standards only), concrete structures (walls, beams, columns and slabs) and floors (one-way and two-way).
This mortar provides a fire resistance of up to 240 minutes (REI 240).
Perlifoc LD is applied wet by means of a mixer and compressor type spraying machine. In addition, it can be applied manually in small areas or to repair bumps. To be able to make the application we will have to prepare the surface and put mesh in place if necessary.
To prepare the surface we must check that it is free of contaminants or other particles that prevent the proper adhesion between the product and the base<. In particular, the substrate must be dry and free of grease, dust and dirt. If the substrate does not offer sufficient adhesion, it is recommended to use mesh or an adhesion promoter. For concrete, it is suggested to use a pressure wash or strong mechanical brushing.
The application temperature must be between 5 and 35 °C; and the substrate temperature during application must be at least 3 °C above the dew point.
In closed and poorly ventilated areas (basements, confined spaces…), for correct drying of the mortar, it is recommended that the RH should not exceed 60% and that there should be adequate ventilation, with at least 4 complete air exchanges per hour until the material is dry (or for at least 2 weeks after completion of the application).
The Perlifoc LD mortar has a rough finish (can be smoothed if necessary) and is pale bronw (it supports finishing with paints).
